Police have identified the body found following Thursday's early morning fire on Avenue D North in Saskatoon.

Fire investigators returned to the scene on Friday to have a closer look at the rubble. The fire broke out just before 3 a.m.

Ten people were forced to evacuate. However, one resident of the fourplex, 60-year-old Daniel Shepherdson did not make it out. Officials say he died of smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.

The property is owned by controversial landlord Jack Grover, who was jailed in 2006 after a fire in one of his rental homes left two children dead.
