A thrift store employee and a motorist were injured Wednesday after a van crashed into a Salvation Army shop on Diefenbaker Drive.
Emergency crews were called to the scene around 2:15 p.m. A van had smashed into the store's wall and the driver was trapped in the vehicle. An employee inside the store was also injured.
Firefighters used a winch to pull the vehicle from the buidling and then extricated the driver through the van's front door.
Both the driver and employee were sent to hospital. The Saskatoon Fire Department said the injuries were not considered life threatening.
A witness told CTV the vehicle was headed straight for the employee but a manager quickly pulled her out the van’s path, likely reducing the extent of her injuries.
The van was removed shortly after 3 p.m.
The incident was the second call police received Wednesday about a vehicle crashing through a building.
A truck jumped a curb and broke through the window of a 7-Eleven store on 33rd Street West around 10 a.m.
No one was injured in the crash. The driver of the truck was issued a ticket for driving without due care and attention.
