The family of a man found murdered on the weekend believes he was a good Samaritan – murdered by people he was trying to help.

The body of 36 year old Rick Bear was found by RCMP Saturday afternoon. He was in a remote rural area, southeast of Prince Albert.

His wife, Gloria Burns, says Bear was a generous man who had adopted three foster children, and was always willing to do people a favor.

She believes Bear was giving two people a ride home when he was killed.

"I couldn't understand why somebody would hurt Rick like that," she said. "All he was probably doing was giving them a ride."

A neighbour says the car became stuck on an access road. Johnny Kosowan says he came home to find a man inside his house, who had broken in to use the phone.

"I grabbed a hold of him and sat him down and told him 'don't move until the police get here," said Kosowan. "Then I called 911."

Kosowan says the man broke down and talked about a murder, saying he thought they'd killed someone.

Police have charged 2 men with second degree murder. 38 year old Wayne Moshenko of the Muskoday First Nation, and 20 year old Cody Walker of Regina made their first court appearance Monday morning. Both will remain in custody until their next appearance on August 16th.
