Direct flights from Saskatoon to Chicago are being cut by United Airlines.

The airline says the 'flights didn't meet expectations’ and it will halt daily service to the Windy City as of Sept. 30.

Saskatoon CEO Stephen Mayberry says the flights were doing well and made profits for the airline but United felt it could do better elsewhere.

United will continue to offer direct flights from Saskatoon to Denver.

The Saskatoon airport has direct flights for several U.S. destinations, with Delta flying direct to Minneapolis while Westjet offers seasonal service direct to Phoenix and Las Vegas.
