Up to 100 employees at the University of Saskatchewan are losing their jobs as the school tries to cope with a budget shortfall.

The university says the layoffs will affect unionized and non-unionized employees in administrative and support positions.

The cuts come as the university tries to address a projected $44.5-million annual deficit in its operating budget by 2016.

Salaries and benefits account for about 75 per cent of total operating budget expenses.

The University of Saskatchewan already laid off about 40 workers in January and February to save $2.3 million.

There's no word yet on how much money the school expects to save with the latest round of cuts.
