Two Saskatoon doctors were made Officers of the Order of Canada this morning at Rideau Hall in Ottawa.

Dr. Jim Dosman was honored for his work in agricultural medicine. He is recognized at the father of agricultural medicine in Canada, and did pioneering research on the health risks in agriculture.

He was the founding director of the Centre for Agricultural Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan, and has helped stimulate research and guidelines for agricultural workers around the world.

Dr. Richard Baltzan is chief of medicine at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon, and was instrumental in treatment programs such as renal transplants, same day surgery, and hemodialysis for people with kidney disease.

Dr. Baltzan is also former president of the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Saskatchewan, and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
