Emergency crews are on scene of a fatal two-vehicle crash in northern Saskatchewan.

RCMP said the collision occurred shortly after 7 a.m. Saturday on Highway 914, about three kilometres north of the Highway 165 junction. The junction sits about 50 kilometres south of Pinehouse.

The driver and passenger of one vehicle — a male and female, according to RCMP — were declared dead at the scene. The lone occupant of the other vehicle — a female — was treated on scene.

RCMP have not yet released the names or ages of the victims, and said the cause of the crash has yet to be determined.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor. Roads were icy at the time of the crash.

Saskatchewan’s Highway Hotline said early Saturday morning that Highway 914 was expected to be closed for four to five hours because of the collision.

RCMP said in an 11:30 a.m. media release that a collision analyst was en route.
