Saskatoon RCMP say two people are dead and two others are injured after a small bus and a pickup truck crashed east of the city.

Mounties say the two vehicles collided on Highway 2, near Highway 16, at about 7:20 a.m. Tuesday.

Two men in the bus, a 69-year-old driver and a 60-year-old passenger, were pronounced dead at the scene. Another man, a 74-year-old passenger and the only other occupant of the bus, was airlifted to hospital in Saskatoon by STARS.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 30-year-old man, was taken to hospital in Saskatoon via ground ambulance. His injuries are described as serious, according to RCMP.

The highway, which was closed for several hours, was reopened just before 3 p.m.
