A 19-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy are facing charges after allegedly stealing a truck and fleeing police.

Saskatoon police were called to the 700 block of Avenue L North shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday. A truck, with a Jet Ski secured in the box, was reported stolen.

Patrol officers spotted the vehicle at 22nd Street and Avenue P about 45 minutes after the initial call. Police attempted to pull the truck over but the driver refused to stop.

The suspects abandoned the vehicle moments later on the 100 block of Avenue W South, according to police, and fled on foot.

The 15-year-old passenger was quickly apprehended while the 19-year-old was arrested with assistance from a canine unit.

The driver was charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, theft of a motor vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a weapon dangerous to the public. The passenger was charged with theft of a vehicle.

Both were scheduled to appear before a Justice of the Peace Saturday evening.
