Police expect to lay numerous charges following the arrests of two people in connection to an afternoon crime spree in Saskatoon.

Officers received several complaints within hours Saturday of people being threatened and robbed across the city, according to a police media release.

The first report came in at 4 p.m. after a man and woman walking in the Greystone Heights neighbourhood were approached by a vehicle. One of the vehicle’s occupants was brandishing a knife and demanded cash.

The next report came in at 6:40 p.m. after witnesses reported seeing a man and woman in a vehicle threatening people on Munroe Avenue. The couple had a machete and were demanding money.

Ten minutes later, the third complaint came in. Occupants in a vehicle were threatening people on Arlington Avenue.

The fourth report was called in to police just before 7 p.m. A woman was assaulted on Eighth Street and robbed of her backpack and longboard.

Police say each caller gave a description of the suspects and the vehicle, and that officers eventually spotted the vehicle on Wilson Crescent in the Nutana Park neighbourhood.

A 19-year-old woman and 18-year-old man were arrested and a large machete was seized from the vehicle. Some of the items in the vehicle were also linked to a break-and-enter in the Rosewood neighbourhood that evening, according to police.

Officers expect charges to include robbery, possession of weapons and stolen property, and uttering threats.
