An armed robbery in Saskatoon’s Stonebridge neighbourhood this weekend was staged, according to police.

Officers were called to HomeSense on Sunday afternoon. Police said in their initial media release that a man passed the cashier a note demanding money. He appeared to have a gun in his waistband and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

An update from police Tuesday, however, stated the robbery was staged. The cashier and the man were in cahoots.

The cashier, a 20-year-old woman, and the 25-year-old man were arrested Monday. The cashier was charged with public mischief with intent to mislead police. The man was charged with armed robbery.

Both accused appeared in court Tuesday and will remain in custody until their bail hearings Wednesday.
