The stage for pro lacrosse is set in Saskatoon.

Crews at the SaskTel Centre spent Wednesday laying out turf in preparation for Friday’s Saskatchewan Rush home-opening game.

The day began at 8 a.m. for arena employees. Workers needed more than five hours to install the playing surface over top of the centre’s ice.

CTV’s Pat McKay went behind the scenes as the 14 pieces of turf were brought in, flattened and pieced together.

The Rush, who moved to Saskatoon from Edmonton after winning the National Lacrosse League championship last season, have yet to play a game in their new home.

The squad won their season opener in Calgary on Jan. 2, downing the Roughnecks 10-8.
