A teen who pleaded guilty to killing a Rapid View-area couple is now serving a maximum youth sentence.

The youth, who was 14 at the time of Genne and Theresa Nolin’s death, was sentenced Monday at Meadow Lake youth court to six years in custody. He had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder of the couple.

The couple was killed in their Rapid View home about 25 kilometres west of Meadow Lake in October 2012.

The teen, who can’t be named, will remain in custody for four-and-a-half years because he’s already spent one-and-a-half years in remand. He will then spend four years under community supervision following his release.

Another teen charged in the deaths will go to trial in October.
