A 16-year-old boy is facing a number of charges in connection to a string of crimes, including residential break and enters, home invasion, theft of a vehicle, and criminal pursuit with police.

Just after midnight on Friday, RCMP requested the assistance of the Saskatoon Police Air Support Unit (ASU) in apprehending suspects they believed to be responsible for home break-ins in the Dundurn area.

Mounties attempted to stop the suspects, who they say were driving a black Dodge Journey and a white Ford pickup truck, both of which had been reported stolen out of Saskatoon, but the suspects fled, and the police gave chase.

Police managed to stop the Dodge Journey using a spike belt. The suspect in that vehicle took off on foot towards Dundurn. The Ford pickup fled the scene.

The ASU tracked the suspect on foot. Police say he broke into a home and stole a vehicle. Police then chased him up Highway 11 towards Saskatoon.

Just outside city limits, police used Stop Sticks, which stopped the vehicle at the overpass at Highway 11 and 16.

The suspect was arrested without incident and transported to the RCMP Detention Centre. He has been charged with home invasion, theft of a motor vehicle, breach of probation, driving while prohibited, and failure to stop for police. The suspect also had a Canada wide warrant for being unlawfully at large.
