Saskatoon's newest community centre officially opened Wednesday morning, and attracted quite a crowd.

More than 200 people crammed into Station 20 West Community Enterprise Centre for its much awaited grand opening.

Built in the city's inner core along 20th Street, Station 20 West is being called a dream come true. It houses a grocery store, cafe, and gathering space. It also offers health, housing, and food services.

The centre is a partnership between Quint Development and Chep Good Food. It's taken the last five years, but together they were able to raise the $6 million needed to make the project a reality.

Sheila Pocha, the chair of Station 20 West, says it will help revitalize the inner city.

"We have an opportunity for growth, and people to feel happy. They have something actually built that's new in their community and not used, not a pawn store, that's really wonderful to be a part of."
