A special group of Saskatchewan youngsters is headed west. They boarded a plane to Vancouver Friday afternoon to see the Grey Cup. Their trip of a lifetime is all thanks to a special man who lost his battle with cancer.

14 Saskatchewan youth were chosen by the Chris Knox Foundation, which grants wishes for kids with cancer.

Sharla Folk, with the Chris Knox Foundations, says the trip is a big help to parents and kids suffering from cancer. "You become so tunnel vision-ed when you have a child with cancer that that's what you live and breathe and then to have some fun in there is what the Chris Knox foundation is all about."

And Folk knows firsthand - Chris Knox was her son. He inspired cancer patients to dream when the devoted roughrider fan attended the Grey Cup in 2007 and raised enough money to send 10 other kids.

Chris lost his battle a few weeks later.

The foundation has since granted wishes to more than 800 sick kids, like Nigel Fernandez who has a brain tumor.

"I think it gives people, especially people dealing with a significant illness right now, a chance to enjoy life a little bit and have a break," says Nigel.

This will be quite the weekend. It starts with Vanier cup, and then the kids are in the Grey Cup Parade, then tours of Vancouver where they get to meet TSN personalities. Finally, to top it off, the big game.
