A GoFundMe page has been set up for the family of Saskatoon’s third homicide victim of the year.

The page is aiming to raise $2,000 to relieve financial stress from Tyler Applegate’s wife and children, according to a post written by his sister.

Applegate, who was 27, was shot in the stomach July 22 in the 2300 block of 33rd Street West and died weeks later in hospital.

His sister, who set up the GoFundMe, wrote a medical tube was removed from his mouth the day he died and he was able to say, “I love you,” as his last words.

Police said this week Applegate and the suspect did not know each other and that no charges have been laid in the case.

The page had, as of Wednesday evening, raised half of its fundraising goal.
