It's been a few days since Saskatoon was hit with a big winter storm, but not everyone is clearing their sidewalks as they should.

That’s why councilor Pat Lorje entered a motion at city council last night, aimed at forcing home owners to do their part and shovel the side-walks in front of their homes.

Lorje wondered if the city's by-law enforcement officers couldn't do more in the way of issuing tickets, the same way they automatically do for parking violations.

“People have had a fair amount of time to clear their sidewalks and it does not seem to be happening at nearly the rate it should be.”
