Saskatoon police are investigating the city’s third homicide of the year after a man shot in the abdomen weeks ago died in hospital.

Police say he succumbed to his injuries late Thursday morning.

The 27-year-old was found suffering from a gunshot wound July 22 after officers were called to a shooting on the 2300 block of 33rd Street West, police said in a news release last month.

The release stated investigators were searching for a black Nissan Titan truck with a black bumper that may have been involved in the shooting.

The victim’s name has not yet been released. Saskatoon police’s update Thursday said investigators believe he and the suspect did not know each other.

Officers with the police’s major crimes unit and forensic identification team are investigating alongside the coroner’s office.
