A baby monkey at the Saskatoon zoo has been given a name after more than three months without one.

Evy is the name chosen for the Goeldi monkey at the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo.

More than 1,000 votes were cast online to choose the name for the female monkey. Evy beat out three potential names – Laka, Zoila and Elena.

“The name couldn’t be more fitting for this wonderful little animal, and she is settling into it well,” the zoo’s manager Tim Sinclair-Smith said in a media release.

Evy was born on Feb. 6 and weighed 56 grams.

The public can visit Evy and her parents, Diego and Leah, year-round at the forestry farm.
