A new report shows sexual and bloodborne infections continue to be a problem in the Saskatoon area.

The Saskatoon Health Region says HIV and hepatitis C rates continue to decline, but are still well above the national average.

Gonorrhea and syphilis rates have sharply increased since 2011, which is consistent with provincial trends.

Chlamydia rates have remained stable since 2010.

The report says most of the people becoming infected live in so called disadvantaged areas.
