A new library branch is coming to one of Saskatoon’s newest neighbourhoods.

Saskatoon Public Library says a new, 5,000-square-foot branch will open in 2016 near Preston Avenue and Hunter Road in the Stonebridge neighbourhood.

“We’re pleased to be expanding library service in one of the fastest-growing sectors in the city. Our new branch will be in close proximity to new schools and seniors’ residences and will benefit many young families in the area,” director of libraries Zenon Zuzak said in a news release.

The library is leasing space from Meridian Development Corp. under a deal that provides the option for expansion to meet projected growth in the area.

The new branch will cost an estimated $1.3 million and will have an annual operating budget of $870,000.
