A stabbing, a hit-and-run collision and a stolen vehicle pursuit were just three of the more than hundreds of calls Saskatoon police responded to on night one of the May long weekend.

Police were called over 200 times from Friday evening to Saturday morning.

One report sent officers to St. Paul’s Hospital, where a 26-year-old man, whose injuries aren’t considered life-threatening, was suffering from two stab wounds to his chest and one slash wound on his arm.

The attack was not random, according to police, and officers have since identified a person of interest.

Another call led police to the 200 block of Stillwater Drive, where a stolen vehicle crashed into five parked vehicles. Three people were seen running from the stolen vehicle after the collision, police said, but no arrest has yet to be made.

A third call required the Saskatoon police plane to track a stolen vehicle. The vehicle, which was reported stolen from the Rosthern area, was brought to the Saskatoon’s police attention after it was chased out of a farm west of Saskatoon.

An initial police pursuit involving the vehicle was called off, but patrol units and canine units eventually arrested two suspects — a 20-year-old man and 16-year-old boy — after the vehicle crashed into a parked vehicle on Matheson Drive in the city.

The police’s tactical unit and gang unit also executed two search warrants overnight, but no details have been provided by police.
