A veteran Saskatoon police officer has pleaded guilty to exceeding .08.

Const. Trenton Dament entered the plea Wednesday in Saskatoon Provincial Court. Another charge, impaired driving, was withdrawn.

He was fined $1,300 and is banned from driving for one year.

The 12-year member of the Saskatoon police was arrested after a single-vehicle crash early in the morning of Dec. 16, 2016.

He crashed a car into a curb at Eighth Street and Boychuck Drive while he was off-duty.

Police were notified of the collision by automatic roadside assistance. Responding officers conducted roadside tests before using a breathalyzer, police said in a media release.

Dament was reassigned to administrative duties after the arrest and will remain in the role, pending an internal police investigation.
