Saskatoon police deployed a conducted energy weapon (CEW), commonly known as a Taser after an incident with a 66-year-old Saskatoon man.

Police say they stopped a motorcycle for a traffic violation on the 2900 block of 29th Street West for a traffic safety violation at approximately 10:05 am Monday morning.

During the investigation, Police say the man exposed himself near the park. He then made his way into his home after stating to an officer that he was going to get a weapon and mentioned firearm.

A short time after entering his residence, the man came back outside with a hatchet and refused to comply with directions of the officers. One officer deployed his Taser.

The man was taken into custody and transported to the hospital as a precaution.

The officers were not injured and no firearm was located.

The man is facing charges of Indecent exposure, Obstructing a Police Officer, Uttering Threats, and Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public.

The investigation is ongoing.
