KINDERSLEY, Sask. - A Saskatoon man who pleaded guilty to unlawful hunting has been fined $5,600.

Donald Scheuerman was convicted of unlawfully possessing wildlife, hunting on posted land without permission and wasting game.

The Environment Ministry says he has also been banned from hunting in the province for five years.

The charges were laid under the Saskatchewan Wildlife Act and after a private citizen complained.

Conservation officers determined that Scheuerman had illegally shot a white-tailed deer on private land south of Kindersley, cut a portion of the skull and antlers off and left the rest to waste.

A search of his home uncovered other untagged antlers.
