Firefighters were greeted by flames showing from the roof of a detached garage in the Montgomery Place neighbourhood when they arrived on the scene late Wednesday.

Crews from two fire stations needed just over 30 minutes to bring the fire in the 3100 block of Ortona Street under control, Saskatoon Fire Department said in a news release. Firefighters remained on scene for an additional 45 minutes while performing salvage and overhaul duties.

No one was injured and the fire was contained to the garage.

An investigation has determined the cause of the fire as electrical in nature. Damage is estimated at $5,000.
