A Saskatoon student and activist is gearing up for the meeting of a lifetime.

Zondra Roy has been invited to participate in a panel discussion and reception hosted by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as part of the national charity Experience Canada’s 150 and Me program.

Roy said she posted on Facebook last week she would like the opportunity to share ideas with Trudeau and received the invitation Monday. She’s hoping to discuss issues affecting Indigenous youth.

“I’ve been causing a lot of ruckus around Canada for many, many years and I think this is one of the fruits of my labour, where I finally feel like my voice is heard,” she said, “but it’s also a responsibility for carrying the voices that are still not heard — most of those being Indigenous youth.”

Roy, who’s won numerous awards for her work in the community, said she wants to collaborate and work together with the prime minister.

The discussion and reception takes place in Vancouver on Sunday as Trudeau meets with the Royal Family.
