The city of Saskatoon says it’s mostly the connecting roadways for the Circle Drive South Bridge that need to be finished.

In a report going toRoadways on Circle Drive South project need work council on Tuesday, the city says the bridge itself is virtually complete, other than a few minor components. But there is no way the project will open before next year.

Much of the remaining work is on the connecting roadways like Preston Avenue, Jasper Avenue and Portage Avenue, along with connections to Valley Road on the west side of the river.

While portions of the new section of Circle Drive have been paved, other sections still need work.

The 300 million dollar project is the largest in Saskatoon history. Originally the plan was to finish it by September 30.

Last summer the contractor told the city it would be delayed by a month, because two of the last three years have been some of the wettest on record.

The contractor – Graham Flatiron Joint Venture - was still hoping part of the project would be open this fall, but poor weather this fall has ended that hope.
