Residents on Davidson Crescent woke up to an unusual scene Sunday morning.

A car parked along the street caught fire in the Westview neighbourhood shortly after 7 a.m.

Fire crews put out the blaze within the hour.

Cody Bereza lives just one house down from where it happened. He said he heard an explosion and, from his window, saw flames coming from the car.

"I was sleeping in my bed and I heard a loud bang outside," Bereza said.

"I looked outside and a car exploded and caught fire just outside my house which is pretty crazy."

It's unknown at this time what may have caused the fire. According to police, an arson investigator attended the scene and it is still undetermined if the car was stolen. The investigation is ongoing.
