Battleford RCMP are warning the public of a potential new phone scam.

RCMP received a complaint about a caller saying they are from the fraud department of a major credit card company. The caller told the complainant that they want to confirm a recent online purchase. They caller asked for personal information, such as the card number, to verify the information. When the complainant refused to provide that information, the caller was silent and hung up.

Police are advising the public to contact their credit card companies directly, using the number on the back of the credit card, if they believe this type of call is legitimate.
