An RCMP officer and a Saskatchewan driver escaped uninjured Wednesday evening after the officer’s cruiser struck a car at a highway intersection near Melville.

The police vehicle was travelling eastbound on Highway 15 and attempting to cross Highway 10 when the cruiser struck a car driving northbound on 10, RCMP said in a media release. The officer was responding to a crash near Dubuc, Sask. — a village located about 35 kilometres southeast of Melville in southeastern Saskatchewan.

The officer and the other car’s lone driver, who is from Yorkton, were not injured. Both cars were damaged beyond repair.

A Yorkton RCMP traffic analyst and Melville officers were still investigating the collision Thursday afternoon.

Police did not provide many details on the crash near Dubuc but said officers were still gathering details on the incident.
