The Saskatchewan government has dropped its plan for standardized testing in schools.
Last year, the province put the plan on pause so it could be reviewed.
Some educators had started an online petition against the idea.
They argued the tests, for students in grades 4 to 12, can marginalize and push out those who are already vulnerable.
The Opposition NDP also questioned why the government was spending $5.9 million on the tests when other jurisdictions were walking away from the practice.
During the debate, the education minister at the time, Russ Marchuk, said he no longer wanted his job.
