The Saskatoon Police Service is warning the public some drugs in the city may be contaminated with dangerous substances.

In a news release, police said emergency crews responded to ten calls last night involving people who had taken cocaine or ecstasy. Police say they became very sick and needed emergency medical attention.

Saturday a representative from the Saskatoon Police Service said 8 of the 10 were taken to hospital by ambulance, one male teen was taken to hospital after police were called to a home, and one teen male driver was taken to hospital after police say he had symptoms of an overdose after a crash on Grey Street and Central Avenue.

Police say all the people taken to hospital exhibited signs of an overdose.

Police say their investigators believe the drugs may have been cut with life threatening chemicals, but didn’t say which chemicals they suspect are in the drugs.
