A 32-year-old man has been charged after a weapons call resulted in police discharging a Taser.
Around 5:45 a.m. Friday, police were called to Clarence Avenue and Ruth Street after reports of a man running around with a knife.
Police located the man in the 1200 block of Wilson Crescent.
Police say the man repeatedly refused to drop the knife, and a Taser — or conducted energy weapon — was deployed when it appeared he was going to assault responding officers.
The suspect was taken to hospital for treatment, and traffic restrictions were put in place for a short time.
The man has been charged with assault with a weapon, and a number of other offences.
