Police across Saskatchewan have issued nearly 300 tickets to motorists speeding through school zones, so far, this week.

Operation Student Safety began on Tuesday, when the 30-kilometre per hour speed limit resumed in school zones.

Law enforcement across the province have reported issuing 293 tickets for speeding, plus another 50 tickets for offences such as using a cellphone illegally and not wearing a seatbelt.

The safety blitz is to promote safe driving habits and to remind motorists to slow down now that students are back in school.
