Police are investigating after a Saskatoon woman reported being sexually assaulted in her backyard Wednesday night.

The woman was in her yard on the 1800 block of Avenue E North around 8 p.m. when a man approached her. He had been walking along railway tracks running behind the home, police said in a media release.

He asked the woman for a cigarette, money and a cellphone. She refused and he grabbed at her clothing.

The suspect fled when the victim started yelling and stomped on his foot. She was not hurt.

The suspect is described as a six-foot tall white man with a light to medium build. He has brown hair, “scraggly” facial hair and a pale complexion, according to police. He was carrying a backpack and wearing a denim jacket, black wind pants and red skate shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 306-975-8300.
