The seizure of almost 600 pills stashed in a popular park have led to the arrest of a man suspected of trafficking fentanyl in southern Alberta.
Police say the pills were found near popular walking and hiking trails in Medicine Hat.
They say officers also seized $35,200 in cash believed to be the proceeds of crime.
Jason Tremblay, who is 38, faces several charges that include possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Fentanyl has been linked to more than 100 deaths in Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia.
It is usually made to look like the pain-killing drug Oxycontin.
