The body of a woman found Saturday outside a Pleasant Hill neighbourhood home has been identified, but Saskatoon police are still working on the mystery of how the woman died.

Police said Sunday that the body is that of a 46-year-old woman. Her name is not being released at the request of the woman’s family.

A woman told CTV she was on her way to take care of her elderly mother Saturday when she discovered the body between two houses in the 200 block of Avenue L South. Police were called to the scene at about 12:30 p.m.

Sherrie Larocque was watching a movie around midnight Friday at her Avenue L home when she says she heard a woman in the alley behind her house:

"We looked out and she was going around all by herself and she was basically crying. She was pretty loud . . . she was saying ‘How am I supposed to make it home.’"

Larocque says the weekends can be busy in her neighbourhood and she didn't think much about it. Until police talked to her, she had forgotten about what she had seen the night before:

"We were shocked and I didn't think much of it until I had to look back and think of Friday night," Larocque said.

Major crime detectives and forensic identification technicians were on scene Saturday. Police say more information will be released when it becomes available.
