A 32-year-old man is facing several charges including assaulting a police officer after an incident at a Pleasant Hill apartment.

Saskatoon police were called to a disturbance at an apartment on the 300 block of Avenue R South around 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

One of three individuals in the residence was agitated and violent towards officers, police said in a media release. He made threats towards the officers, which led police to fire a Taser — or conducted energy weapon — and take him into custody. He was charged with resisting arrest, three counts of assaulting a police officer, and two counts of uttering threats.

Police said they believe he was under the influence of intoxicants. He was taken to hospital following the incident and, as of late Thursday morning, was still there.

A court appearance will be set after he is released from hospital, police said.
