A pint-sized accused vehicle thief is in custody after a tip from an alert citizen early Monday.

Saskatoon police arrested two young offenders after a report just before 1 a.m. of two individuals behaving suspiciously in the 800 block of Confederation Drive.

A neighbourhood resident who reported the incident was on the phone with police and saw two individuals enter an SUV, start it up and begin to drive slowly out of the area, police said in a new release.

A police car pull behind the vehicle and officers were surprised to find a driver so young that he could barely reach the pedals or see over the dashboard.

A 13-year-old youth is in custody charged with theft of a motor vehicle. An 11-year-old boy who was also in the vehicle was released to a guardian because he is too young to be prosecuted.
