A small community west of Saskatoon is cleaning up after a major fire destroyed one of its most cherished buildings.

People in Perdue, Sask. watched helplessly as flames consumed the community's arena.

Perdue volunteer firefighters alerted RCMP of the fire just after 2:30 Saturday afternoon.

The arena was home to minor hockey and figure skating.

There’s no word on cause of the fire, whether there were any injuries, or official damage.

But, people in the community believe the rink has been completely destroyed.

Perdue is home to about 375 people about 30 minutes west of Saskatoon along Highway 14.
