Alcohol and poor road conditions may be factors in a collision Friday night that saw a woman, standing in the ditch after her vehicle slid off Highway 12 north of Martensville, struck by a minivan.

Warman RCMP were called to the crash three kilometres north of Martensville around 6:45 p.m.

A 40-year-old woman driving southbound on the highway slid into the west ditch. A passing motorist in a truck pulled over to the side of the road and exited his vehicle to assist her.

A third vehicle, a minivan, then approached the scene. The van slid into the rear passenger side of the truck before entering the ditch and striking the woman, who was standing outside her vehicle.

Emergency crews from Saskatoon were called and transported the woman to Royal University Hospital with serious injuries.

Road conditions were poor at the time of the collision and RCMP believe alcohol was a factor.
