A pedestrian was fatally hit by a vehicle Friday night on a highway south of Leoville, Sask.

RCMP were called shortly after 10 p.m. about a pedestrian standing in the middle of Highway 24. A second call came in about the same individual as officers were responding to the first call. A third complaint made a short time later advised officers the pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.

A 26-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist has been assisting the investigation. No charges were laid as of Saturday morning.

Leoville is located about 80 kilometres southeast of Meadow Lake in northwest Saskatchewan.
