Doubling the fine for parking violations is paying off for the City of Saskatoon.
The city is expected to post a $2-million budget surplus in 2012.
Much of that has to do with the big revenue boost from parking tickets and traffic fines that brought in about $1.5 million more than expected.
In June, the city raised the initial fine for parking violations to $20 from $10.
