The court date for a man charged with conspiring to murder his wife has been pushed back.

Curtis Vey was expected to enter a plea Tuesday in a Wakaw court, but instead his lawyer issued a brief address by phone. Vey was not present and did not issue a plea. His lawyer asked that the matter be adjourned until Nov. 26.

Vey, of Wakaw, was charged alongside Angela Nicholson, of Melfort, in late July. The pair, both 49, alledgedly plotted to kill their respective spouses. RCMP confirmed in late July the two were having an affair.

Nicholson, facing the same charge as Vey, is expected to enter her plea in a Melfort court also on Nov. 26.

Nicholson’s husband, Jim Taylor, said police informed him of the plot after Vey’s wife, Brigitte Vey, recorded her husband and Nicholson discussing murder. Brigitte told police she overheard the accused discussing a plot in which she would die in a house fire and Taylor would die of an overdose on Halloween.

A police investigation found a will stating Nicholson would inherit Taylor’s farm, but he said he planned on leaving his land to the couple’s two grown daughters and had yet to write up a will.

Curtis Vey and Nicholson were released on bail in late August following separate hearings.

Vey and Brigitte have three children.
