A 45-year-old Prince Albert man who allegedly stole a parked vehicle as a mother and son sat inside the vehicle has been arrested.

He was caught by RCMP Tuesday in Big River, Sask., a community about 110 kilometres northwest of Prince Albert, where the initial incident occurred over the weekend.

P.A. police were called to Victoria Union Hospital around 2:30 p.m. Saturday. A 32-year-old woman, sitting in a parked vehicle with her son, was approached by a man. The man opened the driver-side door and forcefully removed her from the vehicle while grabbing the keys out of her hand.

Her son was able to escape the vehicle. Neither victim was injured.

A warrant was issued Monday for the 45-year-old’s arrest in connection with the robbery. He was located the next day in Big River. The vehicle was also recovered.

He was scheduled to appear in Prince Albert provincial court Wednesday morning.
