One person is dead after a pickup truck and semi crashed west of Saskatoon.

RCMP and fire crews from Asquitch and Saskatoon were called to the collision on Highway 14, a few kilometres out of the city, Tuesday evening. A truck northbound on a grid road entered the highway in front of the eastbound semi, Mounties said in a media release.

One passenger in the truck died at the scene. RCMP have not yet released his name or age.

The truck’s driver and another passenger, who were trapped in the wreckage, were taken to hospital, according to the Saskatoon Fire Department.

"Driving conditions were very treacherous at the time," the fire department said.

A coroner and RCMP collision analyst were also called to the scene.

Alcohol is not a suspected factor, Mounties said.
