A nursing German Shepherd mix found roaming Saskatoon streets will soon be reunited with her puppies.

The dog was found Thursday afternoon on Idylwyld Drive near 33rd Street before she was taken to the SPCA.

Staff noticed she was nursing. They worried her puppies — whose whereabouts, at the time, were unknown — were in danger due to the cold weather.

The owner of the German Shepherd was able to contact the SPCA on Friday morning, however, and inform staff the puppies were home safe.

The pups were between five and six weeks old, meaning a night away from their mother wouldn’t be too harmful.

The SPCA said Friday they were working to reunite the mom with her babies.
