Murder charges have now been laid in the connection with the shooting death of Macdonald George.

George, 31, was shot dead over the May long weekend in the 200 block of 2nd Avenue South.

While four people were charged with firearms-related offences, George's family and friends protested that no murder charges had been laid in the initial investigation.

Now, two men have been charged. A 23-year-old man from Toronto is charged with second degree murder and a 21-year-old Edmonton man is charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

The two men are in custody at the Saskatoon Correctional Center. They will appear in court on Monday to answer to these new charges.
